Paramount+ has canceled the Frasier revival after two seasons, leaving the show's producer CBS Studios to shop it to other platforms, a source with knowledge told Newsweek on Saturday.
The Context
Frasier, a spin-off of the sitcom Cheers that ran from to , was revived in October with actor Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as Dr. Frasier Crane. In the original series, Crane returns to his hometown of Seattle to work as a psychiatrist on a radio show. In the revival, Crane ventures off to a different city "with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge, and an old dream or two to finally fulfill," according to the show's summary on IMDb. The revival got three Emmy nominations but didn't win any of the awards.
What To Know
After two seasons, Paramount+ decided to cancel the sitcom, but the series may be kept alive if another network or streaming platform picks it up.
Deadline reported that Amazon's Prime Video or Hulu could pick up the show. Both streaming platforms carry Frasier's original run. Meanwhile, Variety suggested that NBC, which aired the original series, could pick up the revival as well.

Sorry, tossed salads and scrambled eggs are no longer on the menu: Paramount+ has cancelled the Frasier revival starring Kelsey Grammer after two seasons, TVLine has confirmed. CBS Studios will shop the series to other platforms, our sister site Variety reports.
Grammer reprised his role as psychiatrist Frasier Crane, a role he originated on Cheers and then continued on his own spinoff Frasier, which ran for 11 seasons on NBC. In the revival, Frasier moved back to Boston to reconnect with his son Freddy, taking a job teaching at Harvard along the way. Jack Cutmore-Scott co-starred as Freddy, with Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s pal and fellow professor Alan, Toks Olagundoye as department head Olivia, Jess Salgueiro as Freddy’s friend and roommate Eve and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew David.
