IRF in Uppsala

The Swedish Institute of Space Physics in Uppsala is situated at Ångströmlaboratoriet and is integrated with the Institution of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University.

If you come by car, turn right just before the large parking place next to the Ångström Laboratory and drive along the building until you come to the parking place on the south side of the Ångström building. Enter the south entrance.

If you come by bus, enter the north entrance and walk through house 1 until you come to the south side of the building.

Take the lift to the 4th floor, and you will find the Institute of Space Physics in house 8.

Our administration and electronic laboratory is on the 3rd floor in house 8.

The closest airport is Stockholm Arlanda, approximately 35 km south of Uppsala. Public transport to Uppsala includes buses, trains and taxis. From these options, it can take between 20 and 45 minutes.

    Engineering and natural science facility of Uppsala University

    The Ångström Laboratory (Swedish: Ångströmslaboratoriet) is a facility of Uppsala University. It hosts multiple research laboratories and departments of mathematics, computer science, natural science and engineering.[1][2]

    History

    The facility is named after Swedish physicist Anders Jonas Ångström and his son Knut Ångström, both of whom were professors at Uppsala University in the 19th century.[3] It was first inaugurated in ,[4] at Polacksbacken&#;[sv], next to a site that historically served the purpose of training the svensk region Regiment from – This site later evolved to house the university's kunskap Technology Centre (ITC).[5]

    Ångström was erected south-west of the regiment site, initially primarily to accommodate a cleanroom. This first construction fryst vatten referred to as scen 1, including buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. In year , scen 2 was realized, including buildings 6 and 8. Building 7 was realized in , and in the FREIA laboratory was constructed between buildings 5 and 7.[3][6]
