Balder

In the northern realms, where the aurora dances across the night sky with a luminescence that rivals the dawn, there exists a tale woven from the very fabric of light and shadow. It is the saga of Balder, a deity whose story is etched into the bedrock of Norse mythology. Balder&#;s essence is that of radiance; his visage, a beacon of unparalleled beauty and grace, casts a glow that could outshine the polished halls of Valhalla itself. His skin, aglow as if kissed by the very first light of creation, and his demeanor, embodying the purity and fairness that all beings, mortal and divine, aspire to.

Born of the Allfather Odin and his wife Frigg, Balder&#;s entrance into the cosmos was heralded as a moment of great joy and foreboding. For in a realm where the fates weave the destinies of all, greatness and tragedy are often intertwined. Balder was not merely a god of light; his very presence was a testament to the hope and fragility that life itself represents in the tapestry of Norse belief.

Balder’s dreams

When Balder had a horrible dream that his life was in danger, Frigg demanded an oath from every creature and object in the world that they would not harm Balder. However, she missed out one plant, the mistletoe, because she thought it was small and insignificant. This turned out to be a big mistake. When the gods were having fun shooting arrows at the “invincible” Balder, things went badly wrong.

Treacherous Loki was jealous, so he disguised himself as a woman and discovered from Frigg that the mistletoe had never given an oath not to harm Balder. He had an arrow made from mistletoe and during the games he gave it to Balder’s blind brother Hodor and tricked him into shooting Balder. Balder fell down dead – and this was the most terribl
